Omaha Wedding & Elopement Photographer Who Shows Up Like a Friend, Not a Vendor

Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado & Worldwide

Hey, I’m Mike

You might have seen me already: the guy with the cheap glasses, fancy lighting setups, and a camera that rarely leaves his hands.

I’m the photographer behind Kessel Kreations, and the person couples trust to show up for one of the most meaningful days of their lives.
But this wasn’t always the plan.

Photography started almost by accident. Before that, I spent nearly a decade in the music industry, surrounded by artists, creative people, and environments where the real moments were the ones nobody could plan for.
Somewhere along the way I realized something important:

The moments that matter most in life rarely happen when everything is perfectly staged.

That idea has shaped the way I approach weddings and elopements ever since.

How I Ended Up Here

When I was 17, I was in a serious car accident that almost ended my life.

It’s one of those moments that quietly changes how you see everything afterward. You start to realize that time is not something we’re guaranteed, and the experiences we choose to have matter more than we often admit.

Years later, photography went from a side project to a full-time career during the chaos of 2020.
Since then I’ve built this business around one simple idea:

Your wedding day should be something you actually experience — not something you perform.

I’m Not Your Hype Girl

I’m also not a fly on the wall pretending I’m not there.

My role sits somewhere in between.

I’m the calm in the chaos. The person reminding you to breathe when the timeline gets tight. The one helping make sure the day actually flows the way you imagined it would.

Because the best photographs happen when people stop performing for the camera and start living the day.

A Little About Me

Outside of weddings and cameras, life usually looks something like this:

  • hiking somewhere with my dog Voodoo
  • traveling to places I’ve never been before
  • attending concerts and music festivals
  • chasing experiences that make life feel bigger

I’ve traveled across more than 30 states and several countries so far, and I’m always looking for the next place that sparks curiosity.

Adventure doesn’t always mean jumping out of planes (although I’ve done that too). Sometimes it just means saying yes to something new.

That mindset carries into the way I approach weddings and elopements.

What Working With Me Actually Feels Like

Most couples worry about the same thing:
“What if we feel awkward in photos?”

The truth is, almost everyone feels that way at first.

My job isn’t to turn you into professional models. It’s to create an environment where you can relax, be yourselves, and actually enjoy the day.

That means:

helping plan timelines that create breathing room

guiding when needed but never forcing moments

letting real interactions happen naturally

being present without making the day about the camera

Why Couples Choose Kessel Kreations

Couples usually book me for one of two reasons.

Either they want someone who understands that the experience of the day matters more than the production of it.

Or they want someone who can help them build a day that actually feels like theirs.

Either way, the goal is the same:
To document your story honestly, thoughtfully, and in a way that still means something years from now.

Let’s figure your day out, together

We’ll talk through what you’re imagining, what you’re unsure about, and what would make this feel fully like you.
